Identify a symbol in your book && explain what it means.
A symbol that I found in my book was the picture of Gates in the yearbook.
Lee likes to look at the picture in the yearbook. It seems to give her a sense of security and strength and even hope. She seems to look up to Gates a bit. She also seems to have a "crush" on Gates. She often looks at the picture and tries to deny her infatuation but I think that she uses this picture to talk to as if it was Gates to get ready for the real thing. Whenever she talks to Gates, she seems nervous and uneasy. I think that talking to this picture makes her feel better. It gives her strength and practice to actually talk to her. I believe that talking to this picture might make her confident but also, she won't be ready for the real world. Because the real world isn't quiet. Therefore, she might run into a problem.

Ashley is reading the book. I read like the first chapter of it and was sort of confused too. But it doesn't seem that bad, filled with drama I can tell, based on your blogs.
I love how you told why you think the picture of Gates was a symbol, you explained it fully.
The ending where you said she might run into a problem, I agree with because usually looking a picture and getting strength often goes away when you see the person in real life.

Wow PREP.I wanted to read that book but the library didnt have it. I lve your ssymbolism becuase I find it tottaly ture. The real world isnt quiet. You have to be prepared for a fast moving life. In a way though i can relate to er because I got through the same problem minus the crush and the picture.I think this book might be a little too much for me now, though. The reason I say this is becuase after I've read your comments posted above I see that it's really confusing.
so many people are reading that book its like annoying. i see you had trouble but it looks like youve gone past that. the gates is a great symbol and you explained it perfectly. i understood exactly why the chareacter woudl look at that picture in the yearbook. have fun finishing it!
