I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings...

I have chosen to read the book I Know Why The Caged Birds Sings. I chose this book because I know Maya Angelou to be a great poet. I have read many short stories and poems by her all of which had a big affect on me and I still remember them to this day. I expect to learn a lot from this book. I know that she was raped by her mother's boyfriend when she was eight years old. After that she was traumatized. I think that I will learn how to get over struggles by reading this book. When I reseaerched Maya Angelou, I learned that she became mute after being raped. I find this interesting because she is such a strong out-spoken woman.
